15th ELTA conference in Serbia

Express Publishing which is a publishing house founded since 1998, organized a teacher training seminar on the 31^th of March. The venue was Hotel Alexander Palace in Skopje.

The presenters George Kokolas and Alex Roditis covered several topics of interest for teachers:

• Making the right noise
• Turning reluctant learners into enthusiastic ones
• Developing verbal and non verbal communication skills
• Specialization for the 21st century

The first topic addressed students that make noise, lack concentration and often do not participate in the class. Numerous techniques were offered to engage those learners such to set limits, to involve them, to challenge them or  to adapt our instructional level. Furthermore, ways how to achieve dopamine jackpot were suggested. Most importantly to vary our teaching to suit for visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, left brain and right brain learners.

To my great honor I was selected to be a speaker at the 9th ELTAM international conference. The conference took place in Struga beside the wonderful Ohrid lake as well as on the banks of the river Crni Drim. The conference theme was RE-IMAGINING TEACHING: Rejuvenating and transforming classroom practices. As the title indicates many of the sessions incorporated an element of creativity considered relevant for rejuvenating and transforming classroom practices.

I was very delighted to be given the opportunity to present in such an esteemed  and  international conference. The title of my workshop is "Inspire, engage and motivate learners with original teaching aids". The World Teacher's day is on the fifth of October and celebrates teachers and the important role teachers play in society. This year Step by Step  honored the teaching profession  by organizing the event Speech4Teach - Inspiration for Education. The gathering of around  300 guests mainly teachers was at cinema Frosina in Skopje. Unfortunately, I missed the first part where speakers shared their inspiring stories and experience. However, I attended the educational workshops where remarkable teachers presented.

I truly enjoyed the workshop for preparing mathematical aids to engage and fully involve students for solving mathematical exercise. I decided to use my knowledge of movie making and participate in KREF. KREF is an international festival for educational movies accredited by the Ministry of education in Serbia. Educators from different countries could make a film and compete into the  3 different categories.

The festival intention was to encourage and promote quality teaching practices, to stimulate and improve positive school climate and to encourage exchange of creative and innovative edu practices.  The festival successfully accomplished its goals. Quality educational movies were created and  the best one received a statue on the  23th of September during the award ceremony. Every movie that was played that night  deserved an oscar. I attended the 14th  ELTA conference in Serbia for the first time, hopefully not the last one. The conference took place in Belgrade from 20th to 21st of May in Singidunum University.

The theme of the conference was  “One child, one teacher, one book & one pen can change the world”  by Malala Yousafsai. These words reflect Malala's  belief that education could change the world.  Malala was the youngest person  to receive the Nobel prize award  for her strive and commitment to support education for girls.

Втората Еду Конференција за наставници и  информатичари се одржа од 1 до 3 април 2016 во Струга.   Конференцијата привлече околу 500 учесници од кои најголемиот број наставници од Македонија, претставници од владини и невладини организиции од соседните земји  и пошироко  (Србија, Бугарија, Албанија, Турција,Романија,  Италија, Украина, Шпанија, Франција) и сите заинтересирани за образованието. Агендата изобилуваше со инспиративни   предавања кои пред учесниците  презентираа иновативни пристапи во наставата . Фокус беше ставен на осовременување и унапредување на секојдневна наставна пракса преку  користење на современа технологија и дигитални  содржини.

I received an invitation to attend the Edu Day because I participated in one of the 3 competitions.  I attended Edu Day organized by Microsoft Macedonia. The event took place in hotel Continental in Skopje.

During the event, participants were introduced to many Microsoft tools that innovate the classroom. The possibilities of Office Mix were presented. Then, ways of using Skype to connect with other teachers and classrooms around the world. Moreover, One Note Staff Notebook and One Note Class Notebook were introduced to assist sharing, organizing  class material and resources into education. Presenters of the Showcase classroom encouraged the participants to integrate Microsoft tools as the latest trends to modernize and facilitate students'  learning.
